Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) Graduation
The Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) graduation was held on December 2nd, 2009 at CCP’s Community Center, Kawangware. Eleven pupils graduated awaiting enrolment into public primary schools in the year 2010. The guest of honor, Mr. Nelson Njiru, the Head Teacher, HGM primary school was grateful to the organization for empowering the community academically, spiritually and socially. He also congratulated the graduates and urged them to embrace education, hard work and discipline as they joined public schools. He also promised to admit some of the graduates in his school. Gloria Muliro, the ALP Teacher, appealed to parents to check on the performance of their children while in the public schools and encouraged the graduates to put in more efforts. On the same day, the graduates and children in the Advanced Tuition and Study Hall programs were awarded gifts for excelling in areas of discipline, academic, cleanliness, punctuality, attendance and the most improved pupil. Thereafter, the graduates celebrated their achievements by sharing a cake and later on a feast with relatives, friends and the staff. The graduation marked the end of the program since 2006. The ALP program was established exclusively for orphans, abandoned and special needs children from within the CCP Sponsorship Ministry. It assisted children who were not able to begin school at the right time and accelerated them to their appropriate grade level by covering a two to three year’s syllabus within a year. The Advanced Tuition program helps the highest ranking students from local government schools in Kawangware in order to boost as well as help them maintain good grades for those performing well. The study Hall program provides pupils in grade seven, eight and high school students with a safe and conducive learning environment.
