The First Medical Camp
This year’s CCP’s first Medical Camp was held on January 30th, 2010 at the Community Center, Kawangware. Over 500 people inclusive of sponsored families and their friends attended the camp where they received free Observation, Consultation, Dental, Eye Check-up, Prayers, Pharmaceutical services and Voluntary Counseling Testing (VCT) services. This was also the first camp to offer free Dental and Eye check-up services courtesy of a new partnership with Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) who also donated some medication used in the camp. Fifty six people saw the dentist with 14 tooth extractions done while 60 people visited the Eye check-up unit. The medical team comprised of: 10 Clinicians, 3 Nurses, 3 Doctors, 2 VCT Counselors, 2 Pharmacists, a Dentist and an Optician. Ten adults and 5 children gave their lives to Christ. CCP gives special thanks to our other existing partnerships with Riruta Health Center and Kenyatta Hospital who helped make the medical camp a success. The Medical Camps are held thrice a year in January, April and August. The main goal of the camps is to meet the immediate health needs of the sponsored families, their friends and the community.
